 Ecuador Healthy Living

Moving to the coast of Ecuador was the right decision for us in so many ways.  I’ll discuss the Beaches of Ecuador in general and Bahia de Caraquez in particular in future posts. Let’s get back to my weight loss. Ecuador healthy living was not the main reason we came to Ecuador, but it has been one of the main reasons we choose to stay! The local market here, that spills out over a city block, is truly amazing.

Time to Get Serious About Ecuador Healthy Living

Healthy Living in Ecuador

Slim Dave!

I had been losing weight and regaining some of my strength and stamina and I wanted to kick it up a notch.  I looked at a lot of low carb diets but I was more interested in a full lifestyle change.  We found a web site: www.marksdailyapple.com and started following Mark Sisson and his Primal Eating program.  It espouses eating lots of vegetables and meat with some fruit, albeit sparingly.  No bread, No beer, No processed foods.  Sounds scary doesn’t it?  Actually, it has been pretty easy. It’s not a diet, but a lifestyle change for us.

A Change of Scenery Will Do You Good

I don’t know what your particular health issues are and I’m certainly not going to go Food Nazi on you.  I just know that changing a few basic things changed my life for the better.  To be able to Retire in Ecuador has been a good thing for me.  I got away from junk food and heavily processed food and got more active.  Miriam and I try to walk on the beach at least once every day.  Delicious vegetables and fresh fruit are plentiful and cheap making Ecuador healthy living an absolute ease.  We now have an abundance of fresh seafood; amazing shrimp and many different varities of fish including wahoo, tuna and sea bass.  We watch the fisherman go out in their fishing boats at dusk every evening and come back with their bountiful catches early the next morning.

What Have I Learned?

Moving to Ecuador was an improvement in my lifestyle in soooo many ways!  I eat healthy; I exercise and get plenty of rest. I feel a nap coming on! LOL!  I tend to avoid zealots of any stripe so please don’t misunderstand me.  I’m not trying to “convert” you in any way of being or  thinking.  I’m just sharing what has worked for me.

A Challenge

I challenge you to take the plunge.  Move to Ecuador and give healthy living a try.  You may find that your best years are those that are ahead of you!  Eating fresh, healthy food and walking on the beach everyday doesn’t sound too bad, now does it?  I would love to have a conversation with you on Healthy Living in Ecuador so please, give me a call.  I’ll answer all your questions to the best of my ability.  Ciao!
